Our Commitment

ATCO takes a respectful and collaborative approach to community engagement across our global operations. We have a long-term approach based on respect, trust and genuine openness to the needs and interests of our customers and the communities where we work and live.

ATCO is committed to contributing to the quality of life in these communities by:

  • Seeking to understand and meet the needs and interests of the communities we serve;

  • Developing meaningful partnerships with non-profit organizations and supporting these partnerships through volunteer efforts, as well as providing expertise and financial support;

  • Facilitating engagement with governing authorities, regulatory bodies, landowners, Indigenous and community groups that may be affected by project proposals and operations worldwide; and

  • Building mutually beneficial commercial relationships with local suppliers.

Our Approach

Effective community engagement demands a long-term approach that is based on respect, trust and genuine openness to the needs and interests of our customers and the communities where we work and live.

2015 Highlights

Our Sustainability Performance Update notes ATCO’s extensive process for engaging with and investing in communities. For example, since 2008 our annual community investment has increased by $2.8 million, from $5.1 million to $7.9 million.

Building mutually beneficial relationships with Indigenous communities helps form the foundation for many of our business activities. In 2015 we undertook a number of innovative partnerships, including beginning construction of the Blood Tribe Youth Wellness Centre, which uses the Blood Tribe’s own facility to manufacture the modular units used in construction.

Consultation with landowners, communities, and Indigenous peoples also occurred throughout 2015.
