​Meaningful Partnerships

At Canadian Utilities (CU), we strive to build and maintain sincere, mutually beneficial relationships with Indigenous communities based on respect, trust, understanding and transparency. Our many partnerships are contributing to sustainable economic and social development of Indigenous communities across Canada.

We have more than 40 joint-venture partnerships, MOUs and other relationships with Indigenous communities. Some of our Indigenous partnerships are celebrating more than 25 years of working together. The following are just a few examples:


Northland Utilities Enterprises

Northland Utilities - ATCO partners with Denendeh Investments Inc. to own Northland Utilities, providing power to more than 11,000 customers in Trout Lake, Kakisa, Dory Point, Fort Providence, Enterprise, Hay River/Kátl’odeeche First Nation, Wekweeti and Yellowknife.


Inuvik Gas Ltd.

Inuvik Gas Ltd. - ATCO Energy Solutions partners with AltaGas Utility Group Inc. and the Inuvialuit Petroleum Corporation to own Inuvik Gas Ltd. which distributes natural gas to the town of Inuvik, serving more than 900 customers.
